Ryan, Heidi, & Elsa-Denver Family Photographer
Posted on August 30, 2010
This summer we spent a few days in Minnesota visiting family, and I was so excited to have the chance to photograph my cousin Heidi, her husband Ryan, and their daughter Elsa. Elsa is Heidi and Ryan’s second child; their first child, Carter, unexpectedly went to heaven when he was eight months old. My heart broke for them when this happened–I can’t imagine how hard it would have been to have experienced this loss. I have really admired the courage that Ryan and Heidi have shown in the midst of their grief; God’s love radiates even more strongly from them, and they continue to have hope despite experiencing tragic circumstances.
Their daughter Elsa is such a happy, easy going baby. She has the most beautiful red hair! Here are some of my favorite photos from their session:
Thanks so much, Heidi and Ryan! It was so great to spend time with you and meet Elsa.

You may remember Carter, Kathy, Roman, and Lucia (and their adorable pug Stella) from these posts. I had done a family session with them during the winter, but Lucia got sick and we weren’t able to finish. So, I recently went back to finish their shoot. This time we focused mainly on Lucia, who is just beautiful! Here are some favorites from their session:
Thanks Carter and Kathy! It was so fun to see how much Lucia has changed in a few short months!

Nathan, Gudmunda, Isold, Finn, Frodi, & Briet-Colorado Springs Family Photographer
Posted on August 3, 2010
This session marks the first time that I have photographed a family of four children! Nathan met Gudmunda when he was stationed in Iceland with the Air Force, and she left her home to make a life with him in the United States. And what a full life it is! I’m sure that there is never a quiet moment in their home, as it is filled with their beautiful children Isold, Finn, Frodi, and Briet. I had a lot of fun doing this shoot and enjoyed the challenge of keeping up with the kids! Here are some favorites:
I felt the same way after this session was over

Thanks Nathan and Gudmunda! It was so nice to meet you. I hope you had a great trip to Iceland!

This summer I have had the opportunity to photograph a lot of great families, including my friends Joe and Ruby and their adorable sons Trey and Colby. Trey and I spent a lot of time together during the first year of his life–I babysat him full time for about 6 months. He doesn’t remember that time, but I have good memories of it, and it is so fun to see how he has grown and changed since then! Here are some highlights from their shoot:
I love Colby’s bright red hair:
Thanks Ruby and Joe! It was great to see you!

Berkeley and Carter were so excited to get their “good behavior” treat:

I had so much fun taking pictures of my sweet friends Ricky and Shelly and their beautiful daughter, Macey. They were up for anything, and Eric and I enjoyed spending a morning with them exploring downtown Littleton. We did a combination family/couples shoot–I’ll share the family shots in this post and then the couple shots in the next one.
Thanks so much, Ricky, Shelly, and Macey!

Sorry for the long absence here–we’ve been traveling a bit over the past month. But I have lots of fun portrait sessions (and a wedding!) to share in the next few weeks.
First I have to share some pictures of Tiger, my mother-in-law’s cat. He is such a sweet and cuddly cat. One of my nieces named him Tiger, but I think he should be called Pumpkin–it fits his appearance and demeanor much better!
Here are some highlights from a mini shoot that I did while we were visiting my mother-in-law in Omaha:
He’s figured out that these chairs have an excellent texture for scratching:
And finally some action shots…he loves to play with string:

I had such a fun shoot with Brett and Brooke and their adorable kids Scarlett and Raef. Scarlett was so sweet and Raef gets the award for being one of the most smiley babies I have photographed! He loved the camera. Here are some highlights from their shoot:
Thanks so much, Brooke and Brett! It was great to meet you!

Butterfly Pavilion
Posted on June 2, 2010
My Mom has been wanting to go to the Butterfly Pavilion in Westminster for a long time, so we took her there for her birthday. There were lots of fun tropical flowers in bloom and the butterflies were out in force! And no, this isn’t turning into a butterfly blog…it’s just that I’ve been to a couple great butterfly pavilions in the past month and there were too many good picture taking opportunities to ignore.
This butterfly loved my Mom’s hair–he wouldn’t leave her alone:

This little guy must have thought that he was a presenter:

And a couple more of the beautiful butterflies:
